Small and pokey loft office is transformed into two large rooms, one with en-suite shower room, and additional bathroom.
A much-loved East Dulwich home needed a guest bedroom with en suite and home working office.
Reworking the stairwell and access to the loft entirely, popping up the roof over the main house and extending over the outrigger provided a bright and bougie guest suite in the loft with Velux to the street and full height windows to the garden as well as a generous office and additional shower room on the outrigger. All this without losing the period character that had drawn the clients to the property in the first place and making the stairwell lighter, more generous and consistent all the way to loft level. To maintain the house's character externally, a 'Victorian mansard' style was devised, with slopping slate cladding to soften the extra volume being generated.
